Dr. Michael Christo is the lead psychiatrist at Novant Health Psychiatric Associates and also a teacher and supervisor for the University of North Carolina’s School of Medicine.

With a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry and Biology degree from Southern Adventist University, the Cum Laude graduate pursued medical school at Loma Linda University, graduating in 2009.

Over the course of the next seven years, Dr. Christo served his psychiatry residency at Vanderbilt University, and completed an Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) mini fellowship at Emory University, a Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) mini fellowship at Duke University, and clinical training for Neuronetics’ NeuroStar ® Advanced Therapy for Mental Health.

The board-certified psychiatrist was appointed medical officer on duty at Middle Tennessee Mental Health Institute, staff psychiatrist at Novant Health Psychiatric Associates, ACTT Psychiatrist at Carolina Outreach LLC, and utilizes his ECT and TMS experience in day-to-day practice.

As a member of Brave Step’s advisory board, Dr. Christo also shares his passion and expertise with the American Medical Association, North Carolina Medical Association, International Society for ECT and Neurostimulation, and American Psychiatric Association.
