Bentley Ball
2024 Relentless Warrior Award
The 2024 “Relentless Warrior” award recipient is Bentley Ball.
This award shines a light on an advocate who embodies resilience and commitment to the fight against sexual violence. This year’s recipient is a true force for change.
As a survivor, trauma therapist and dedicated advocate, she has spent over 30 years transforming lives including her own.
Since joining Brave Step’s advisory board in 2018, she has made a remarkable impact, sharing her insights through speaking engagements and media appearances. Under her leadership, she successfully transitioned the advisory board into a self-governing body.
For her unwavering dedication and profound influence, we are proud to honor Bentley Ball with the 2024 Relentless Warrior Award!
Lisa Littlejohn Hill
2024 Above and Beyond Award
The Above and Beyond Award recognizes an individual who consistently goes above and beyond to advance our mission. This year’s recipient has been an invaluable member of Brave Step’s board since 2018.
With more than 15 years as a licensed mental health professional, her dedication to supporting survivors of childhood trauma is truly inspiring.
Throughout her tenure at Brave Step, Dr. Lisa Littlejohn Hill has been a catalyst for positive change, mentoring emerging leaders and guiding our organization through challenges and opportunities alike. Her vision and leadership over the past two years as president have profoundly shaped Brave Step, making Dr. Lisa Littlejohn Hill a deserving recipient of the 2024 Above and Beyond Award.
George Appenzeller
2024 Unsung Heroes Award
The 2024 Unsung Heroes award honors George Appenzeller and Sarah Meadows who have been instrumental in shaping our organization since 2016. Initially hired to develop our comprehensive evaluation plan for Adult Survivor Care, their leadership expanded over the years to include developing a peer leader training program and helping create our Loved Ones program. For their unwavering dedication and significant contributions, we proudly recognize George and Sarah as the 2024 Unsung Heroes!
Sarah Meadows
2024 Unsung Heroes Award
The 2024 Unsung Heroes award honors George Appenzeller and Sarah Meadows who have been instrumental in shaping our organization since 2016. Terri Rhodes, PhD
2024 Provider Plus Award
The 2024 Provider Plus Award is given to Dr. Terri Rhodes, a licensed psychologist with over 30 years of experience. Dr. Rhodes has dedicated her career to empowering survivors of sexual trauma. Her expertise has been pivotal in the success of our Gender Inclusive Support Group Initiative, which she helped launch.
Since July 2023, Terri has led two rounds of in-person therapy sessions, creating a safe and inclusive environment for our community. Her guidance and commitment have been invaluable, and we are proud to recognize her with the 2024 Provider Plus Award!
Cori Schultheis
2024 Heart of Service Award
Cori Schultheis joined Brave Step in April 2021 and quickly stepped up to support our operations committee. With her expertise in customer service, operations and human resources, she made significant contributions by reviewing policy manuals and assisting with program development.
In April 2022, she took on a leadership role to enhance our volunteer program. Over the past several years, she has redefined our goals and established a robust volunteer experience including coordinating activities for over 35 volunteers, conducting regular check-ins, and fostering engagement.
This remarkable individual has dedicated an average of 10 hours a month, totaling around 320 hours plus of service.
