Mindfulness 101 with Dr. Susan Funk

On Sept. 26, 2024, at 7 p.m. ET, join Brave Step and Dr. Susan Funk in a mindfulness 101 session. In addition to learning about the fundamentals of mindfulness, Dr. Funk will share key elements to be aware of when considering and/or practicing mindfulness and daily mindfulness exercises.

As part of Brave Step’s Changemaker program, we recognize that to ultimately protect those you love, you have to have the tools, skills and knowledge to care for yourself. Through this work, we can protect children, create more stabilized family environments, and reinforce the workplace and community as a better place to work and live.

Mindfulness Matters

Our mental health as friends, family, employees, colleagues and individuals is in a constant state of management, isn’t it? A study by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention found that 71 percent of adults “reported at least one symptom of stress, such as headache or feeling overwhelmed or anxious.” The question is how we effectively manage that and build a repertoire of tools that can help.

Mindfulness is a useful tool with The American Psychological Association noting that it reduces rumination and stress, improves our “working memory” and focus, and more.
