Module 1: Understanding Anger

Anger is one of the most misunderstood emotions we carry. In Module 1 of Brave Bytes: Navigating Anger, we explore what anger actually is, why we feel it, and how it can become a source of energy for change rather than something to fear or hide.

This is the first of five modules in Brave Step’s Changemaker series — created for survivors, loved ones, allies, and anyone who wants to understand anger more honestly.

    Module 1: Understanding Anger

You don’t need to be a counselor to make a difference; these are practical tools for everyday life.

    In this module:

    • What anger is, and why it’s a normal human emotion
    • Anger as a universal experience — and as a secondary emotion covering fear, hurt, sadness, or shame
    • The anger spectrum, from mild irritation to rage
    • The power of anger for advocacy and boundary-setting

A note on care: this content may bring up strong emotions. Please go at your own pace — pause, step away, breathe, or return later. Find a quiet space, keep a journal nearby, and be gentle with yourself.
