Peer Leader Training

During Brave Step’s Peer Leader Training, we will explore together what it means to be a peer leader and discuss best practices.  Brave Step currently needs peer leaders to lead our Courageous Corners(peer support group), Courageous Book Club, and Courageous Creators (art activities).  This training will be a step towards becoming a Brave Step peer leader for one or more of our Courageous programs.

The virtual training will take place on Saturday, March 2 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

While you are deciding whether you want or are ready to be a peer leader, here are a few things to consider:

  • Are you in a safe space, both mentally and physically, in your journey and recovery process?
  • Are you comfortable sharing your story and facilitating conversations on sensitive topics?
  • Do you feel you are ready to commit to helping others on their journey?

If you answered yes to all of three, please apply to join us on Saturday, March 2 to learn more!  Attendance is not a commitment nor an invitation to be a peer leader for Brave Step.

Virtual Training

It will be a virtual all-day training with a lunch break.

Expectation

There is an expectation that peer leaders will commit to participate for at least a full year and lead/co-lead 4-5 times.

Leadership Options

Peer leaders will have the opportunity to lead Courageous Corner, Book Club and/or Creators.

Training

Prospective peer leaders who complete the training and are ready to lead will be required to complete a background check and a QPR (Suicide Prevention) Training.
