Words That Rise: Poetry and Writing with Brooke Lehmann at Pauline’s Tea-Bar Apothecary

Join Brave Step for a meaningful evening featuring a poetry reading, author Q&A, and an optional guided writing workshop with poet and survivor, Brooke Lehmann who will be reading from her debut collection, Of Salt and Song.

Brooke LehmannBrooke Lehmann’s poetry has been featured in Poet Lore, Tar River Poetry, and other journals, and her debut collection, Of Salt and Song, is now available from Kelsay Books. A winner of numerous awards, including the 2024 Charles Edward Eaton contest and the 2025 Robert Golden Award, she also received a Pushcart Prize nomination. Brooke is currently pursuing an MFA in Creative Writing from Queens University and serves as Poet-in-Residence for Charlotte Center for Mindfulness.

This event invites community members to explore storytelling, healing, and self-expression in a warm and welcoming space.

Optional Restorative Writing Workshop

Following the reading, there will be an optional restorative writing workshop, we invite you to put pen to paper and gently lay your burdens down. Through a series of guided prompts in a supportive and confidential space, you’ll explore ways to process challenges, foster resilience, and connect with your inner voice. This workshop is an opportunity to practice self-compassion and transform personal reflections into a source of strength.
