Thank You, Jeannie Owens, LCSW

Jeannie OwensThis month, Brave Step recognizes and celebrates the remarkable service of Jeannie Owens, LCSW, as she retires from private practice and concludes her tenure on Brave Step’s Advisory Board.

Throughout her career, Jeannie has dedicated herself to supporting, strengthening and walking alongside individuals on their recovery journeys. Her expertise, compassion, and commitment to trauma-informed care have touched countless lives and helped advance support in our community.

As Jeannie reflects on her career and service, one word stands out: “Humbled.”

I have been privileged to have served and supported survivors as they make the choice to move forward in recovery. Brave Step has provided a reassuring, safe environment for survivors to choose the type of highly specialized and most advanced treatments to help them recover.

When I was first practicing, there were limited treatment therapies to use for this work. It has been exciting to learn and witness new and developing therapies to assist survivors. At one time, it was seldom that a survivor reached out for care, but over time, as therapies for better trauma-informed care, such as EMDR and TFCBT were developed and the subject of sexual assault became easier for people to discuss, more and more people have been reaching out for care.

And this makes it more important than ever for the energetic and passionate team at Brave Step to continue their mission. There are endless opportunities for the growth of Brave Step with continued support from the community.

I have been so honored to play a small part in supporting Brave Step.

Jeannie Owens, LCSW

Jeannie’s words reflect the same values that guide Brave Step’s work every day: compassion, hope and the belief that recovery is possible.

While she describes her role as a “small part,” her contributions have been deeply meaningful. Her leadership, wisdom and unwavering dedication have helped strengthen Brave Step and the countless individuals we serve.

As she begins this new chapter, we offer our heartfelt gratitude for her years of service, advocacy and care.

Thank you, Jeannie, for the lives you have touched and the legacy you leave behind.
