Have you experienced sexual harassment, abuse or assault?

If so, pour your story in a StoryBowlTM on Saturday, June 29 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Myers Park Baptist Church.

Brave Step has teamed up with artist Dana Endsley to give women who have experienced sexual harassment, abuse and/or assault a safe and nurturing environment where we can have deep connection, with ourselves and others, and use art as an avenue to express our stories.

This will be a day of healing through story sharing and creating a community piece of art. Connecting with other women who share similar experiences and then creating something beautiful, communal and powerful is a healing act.

Oh, and by the way, this event is FREE. Spots are limited so register today.

What is a StoryBowl?

A StoryBowl is a multi-layer bowl that will showcase the expression of women’s experiences of sexual harassment, abuse and assault.

Comprised of three layers, participants will play a vital role in creating each layer of the bowl. Each participant will be given the opportunity to write her story in whatever way feels safe and comfortable. The writing process will be done in a group setting but will not be shared aloud.

There will be 3 rounds of writing: the actual story, the resources or things that help(ed), and #metoo with either initials or first name. The bowl will lovingly hold your personal writing that eventually will be torn up and used as pieces to build the final artwork.

The writing of one’s story is self-paced and only to the degree comfortable. At no point will a person’s story be verbalized or reviewed.
