Everyday Courage Isn’t Always Loud. Sometimes, i Everyday Courage Isn’t Always Loud.
Sometimes, it signs up.

As February comes to a close, we’re reminded that courage often looks ordinary — showing up, listening well, offering steady presence.

And we need that kind of courage in our community.

Brave Step is currently seeking:
💙 Peer Leaders — to help hold trauma-informed, survivor-centered spaces
💙 Meat Fest Planning Committee Members — to bring creativity and heart to one of our signature gatherings
💙 Volunteers for our April 21 Color It Blue event — to help turn awareness into visible, community-wide support

You don’t need to have all the answers.
You don’t need to be “perfectly prepared.”
You just need to care.

This is how awareness grows.
This is how community strengthens.
This is everyday courage in action.

Interested? We’d love to connect. 💙

Everyday Courage Looks Like Paying Attention. Tra Everyday Courage Looks Like Paying Attention.

Trauma isn’t always visible and often, neither is the strength it takes to carry it.

Here are 3 ways someone might be living with trauma, even if they’ve never named it out loud (source: trauma educator Vicki Peterson):
• heightened startle response or constant alertness
• emotional numbness or sudden mood shifts
• difficulty trusting, resting, or feeling safe

PTSD and complex trauma are often misunderstood as “invisible,” which means survivors are frequently overlooked, even in settings that aren’t yet trauma-informed.

Sometimes courage isn’t about having the right words.
It’s about noticing, believing and sharing a resource when it might help.

If this resonates, consider passing it along.
Courage starts with reaching out.

✨ Voices of Change | Christy Garcia ✨ When ed ✨ Voices of Change | Christy Garcia ✨

When education crosses languages and borders, real change happens.

Christy Garcia has been a powerful force behind Brave Step’s Navigating Anger workshops, helping create and lead three sessions, one in English and two in Spanish, making this essential education accessible to more people and more communities.

Through Christy’s leadership, more than 100 participants have engaged in these workshops, with voices joining us from Toronto to Columbia, Bogotá, and many places in between. Each session offered tools for understanding anger, strengthening relationships and building emotional resilience, all through a trauma-informed, survivor-centered lens.

Christy’s commitment reminds us that Voices of Change aren’t always loud — sometimes they teach, translate, listen and open doors so others can grow.

Thank you, Christy, for using your voice to educate, empower and expand Brave Step’s impact across communities and cultures. 💙
