This month, we celebrate and thank Jeannie Owens, This month, we celebrate and thank Jeannie Owens, LCSW, as she retires from private practice and concludes her service on Brave Step's Advisory Board.

For decades, Jeannie has dedicated her career to supporting survivors and advancing trauma-informed care. Through her leadership, compassion, and commitment to recovery, she has helped strengthen countless lives and our community as a whole.

When asked how she feels about this transition, one word came to mind: *humbled.*

"I have been privileged to have served and supported survivors as they make the choice to move forward in recovery."

Jeannie, thank you for your wisdom, your service, and your unwavering belief in the resilience of survivors. We are honored to have been part of your journey and grateful for the impact you have made.

Please join us in celebrating and thanking Jeannie for her extraordinary contributions.

💙 Supporting Yourself Matters 💙 Supporting 💙 Supporting Yourself Matters 💙

Supporting others starts with supporting yourself.

Many of us are taught to keep going, say yes, and put everyone else first. But caring for yourself isn’t selfish. It’s part of sustaining healthy relationships and showing up as your best self.

This week, consider:
✨ Setting a boundary that protects your energy
✨ Giving yourself permission to rest
✨ Noticing and naming what you’re feeling

Self-support isn’t about doing less for others. It’s about creating enough space to care for yourself, too.

Because your needs matter.
Because your wellbeing matters.

🔥 Save the Date + Join the Story 🔥 Last yea 🔥 Save the Date + Join the Story 🔥

Last year, you showed up.

You gathered around tables, connected with friends, shared stories, bid on bourbon, celebrated great BBQ and together, you helped create something bigger than an event.

You helped create recovery, hope and support for survivors.

And now… we’re getting ready to do it again.

📅 Save the Date: Meat Fest 2026 — October 24

As we begin planning for another incredible year, we have a question for those who’ve attended before:

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to help bring Meat Fest to life?
