💙 One Brave Thing 💙 As backpacks are packed 💙 One Brave Thing 💙

As backpacks are packed and routines return, there's one school supply every child needs but it won't fit in a backpack.

A trusted adult who listens.

This back-to-school season, one brave thing could be creating a simple ritual of connection.

Try asking:
💙 "What made you smile today?"
💙 "Was anything hard today?"
💙 "Is there anything you wish adults understood?"

When children know they can talk about the little things, they're more likely to come to you with the big things.

A few minutes of connection each day can build trust that lasts all year long.

💙 Voices of Change 💙 Some people spend thei 💙 Voices of Change 💙

Some people spend their careers caring for others.

Others continue learning so they can care even better.

Today, we're celebrating Karrie Shoffner, BSN, RN, MBA, whose commitment to survivors and lifelong learning continues to inspire us.

As Nurse Manager of the SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner)/Forensic Nursing Program at Atrium Health Cabarrus, Karrie and her team are often on the front lines of care. During moments of crisis, they provide compassionate medical care, forensic expertise, and a steady presence for individuals experiencing one of the most difficult days of their lives.

Recently, Karrie reached another milestone by earning her MBA, a reflection of her belief that leadership is never finished learning.

For Karrie, growth isn't about adding letters after her name. It's about strengthening her ability to lead, advocate, and improve systems of care for survivors and the professionals who serve them.

As a member of Brave Step's Advisory Board, Karrie generously shares her expertise, perspective, and passion to help ensure survivors have access to compassionate, trauma-informed support long after they leave the hospital.

Please join us in congratulating Karrie on this incredible accomplishment and thanking her for the countless ways she leads with knowledge, compassion, and heart.

Congratulations, Karrie! 💙

💙 Every Day Matters 💙 Sometimes we think ma 💙 Every Day Matters 💙

Sometimes we think making a difference requires a huge commitment.

But what if it only required one day?

During our Every Day Matters campaign, individuals, families, coworkers, and friends come together to fill an entire month, one day at a time.

Each day represents someone saying: "I believe survivors deserve a community that stands beside them."

Your day becomes part of something much bigger.

Invite your workplace.
Invite your book club.
Invite your neighborhood.
Invite your faith community.

Together, small acts of generosity become lasting impact.

Who could you invite to help fill a month? To sign up, visit the link in our bio.
